I restarted, and hit F8. It took me to the screen where you choose from the different boots, i chose 'Safe Mode' at the top and it took me to another choice between 'Safe Mode Recovery Console' or 'Safe Mode Windows XP', so i chose XP and then it started to boot listing drivers and such. Thats where theres a problem, it does that and then stays at the list.
It says at the bottom for about 5 seconds to press escape to cancel loading from STDS.sys or something similar. I tried once booting with that and another without it and both times it froze there for a few minutes. The computer was making no sounds and the light was flashing very faintly once in a while so im pretty sure its doing nothing but perhaps there is an antivrus scan that happens during the driver loading and the computer goes really really slow??

Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK. The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the '/SAFEBOOT' option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted. The computer restarts in Safe mode. Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.

When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck '/SAFEBOOT' and click OK to restart your computer.
