Edit: I found that I can connect my iPad, also in my iPad the Mac showed up, I will try with other devices and maybe get a bluetooth KB to try on. Hello, recently I got my 4540s working with Mountain Lion, everything works except for wi-fi (and bluetooth obviously). I found a generic BT dongle lying around and I connected it just for fun. Amazingly it was recognized and 'functional' because it detected my iPhone's BT. When I tried to connect it (to share Internet, also this is possible via USB) my computer followed it straightforward, but stopped at this screen. Attemt to pair.png (83.9 KB) After a while this occurs on the Mac and on my iPhone.
Also, the iPhone do not recognizes the Mac. Pairing Error.png (78.0 KB) iPhone BT.jpg (124.0 KB) When I choose to piar without a code I succeed on the Mac, though nothing happens on the phone. I looks paired on the BT screen on the Mac, but when I try to connect an error occurs. Connected.png (58.4 KB) Here I paste what is reported on System Report with the iPhone 'Paired'. For the record - what model of adapter is it?
Generic Bluetooth Adapter For Hp Probook 4530s
I was amazed to find that this old BT adapter I had worked with Magic Mouse/Trackpad on both Windows 8 and ML: However, I was still anxious if this old adapter might cause some troubles with certain devices (I am 99% sure it won't pair with a WiiMote, as that's what I originally got it for and it didn't work, although that may not be the case on newer OSes?). I donated that adapter to my work that only will use it for a mouse, and I am still using this adapter, and might pick up another of the same one for a new build I'm working on: So there are many older adapters that will work, it's not totally clear if the BT kext is getting improved to support more adapters or if these adapters have always worked but no one noticed. We need to compile a list of working adapters, since AFAICT there's still no ideal solution for using the BT functionality of the Atheros chip one needs to get internal WiFi (still requires the taping pins + using external BT adapter compromise). I am starting to get curious as to whether certain BT adapters have better 'specs' than others, that might affect pairing success with more 'exotic' BT devices. One case is pairing the Playstation Move controller - it expects a fairly fast pairing as it gets with the PS3, and so it seems that adapters which are too slow to pair end up timing out with this device.
I am not sure if this is the fault of the OS or the adapter, however.
